Start seed indoors 8–10 weeks before the last frost and hold the soil at 24–29 °C until the seedlings are up.
Planting out
Move plants outside only after the risk of frost has passed. Space them 45–60 cm apart in full sun and rich, well-drained soil, and water moderately and avoid excessive moisture. Ripe pods come about 80–100 days after transplanting.
Pickling and fresh use
The small pods are used whole for pickling, as a garnish on salads and cheese boards, and in mild sauces and relishes.
